Tuesday, April 29, 2003I was reading the daily telegraph this morning, now despite being run by right wing reactionaries its actually the best of the british papers - the rest are boring or insipid...... In one of the columns were two jokes that are great ! But I live in a community house full of ignoble fiends - ok so they`re my brothers and I love them, but they don`t appreciate physics jokes. It was very frustrating having these two jokes and knowing I couldn`t share them with anyone.......So I rushed into work this morning knowing I could share them with you :D . Anyway here goes - Why did the chicken cross the mobius strip ? To get to the same side of course..... Heisenburg was stopped for speeding. The traffic cop asked him "do you know how fast you were going ?". "No" replied Heisenburg "but I know exactly where I am".... That last one is great - but I guess not all of you are going to get it *sigh* - I`ll have to send it to my Dad !! Anyway in website updates - Wittgensteins Philosophical Investigations is now in but needs the images and the links sorting. I have also completely rewritten 'Of Truth and Symbols'. It is now about the power of symbols and sacraments and nothing to do with evolution !! Much better. Saturday, April 19, 2003Well...... I thought I`d done my blog for the day and could get on with editing content. I'm trying to work on a lovely little book called Soul Shapes for the spiritual section. (I apologise for any spelling mistakes - for once I have a genuine excuse, I`m practising touch typing. I've been trying to learn for ages but am still about ten times slower than I am with four fingers and so getting the motivation to practise is difficult.....). *ahem* just seen a bizzare article on launching a 'denial-of-service' attack (a kind of hacking - used to attack websites) via the postal service - not only bizarre, but in the words of slashdot ' it exploits the boundary between cyberspace and the real world.'Theres also buried somewhere on the web an article about a new robot thats been built to give massages... including 3d laser mapping cameras to work out the body (stuff touch-typing I`ve been using 4 fingers for 15 years now...). Wednesday, April 16, 2003Oh my goodness I was hoping to post a blog full of incisive wit and hilarious commentary on life and society *ahem* well at any rate put something vaguely worth reading...... and guess what I failed, too busy, too hassled, too lazy !!Hey - I`m becoming cosmipolitan - I spent the weekend relaxing with dutch friends (shout going out to DJ Devid) and yesterday with Romanian friends..... and have e-mail contact with a friend in America, one in New Zealand (good old Atlantis !!), one in Spain and one in France....... wow..... the internet is shrinking the world... hey - do you think that counts as social commentary ? (or do you think it might have been said before). Anyway - I`ve put the first part of my life story on the internet (introspective - who, me ?) and also done a huge page on Terry Pratchett.... links below. Friday, April 11, 2003Aha... more changes......I`ve edited the space propulsion article so that its a lot neater with some internal links and so on. I`ve also put some fancy pictures on the science and technology index page. Theres a nifty explanation of nanotechnology and nanocomputers on one of them and the other is a funky calvin and hobbes cartoon.......... I still want to add a lot more to the science page... its the one I haven`t really worked on. Thursday, April 10, 2003Hmmm... by the way I don`t think I`ve credited www.blogger.com anywhere on this site. They provide the tools for me to easily update this 'blog' - all free and very helpful it is too.Hmmm... got a Jesus Centre meeting on Saturday so have to prepare a few things.... its really nice to feel *needed* and have people listen to what I say.... why didn`t I try that before ?? lol - doesn`t happen often. Anyway - I`ve added some more stuff to the site :- Theres an info dump directory with lots of cyberpunk and science articles to root trhough. You can access it through the cyberpunkproject index page. Theres also a couple of book download pages. Classic Sci-Fi and Other Books.... Lots of great books to download... all hosted on another site. Thats all for now I think...... Waving a metal rod like a magician on a mountaintop, Leyh shot lightning bolts to the ground, creating brilliant white tracks against the black sky. He had built Tesla coils before, but this was the first time he'd conducted electricity from on high. The effect was mesmerizing. Friday, April 04, 2003Well if you`re reading this you`ll already have seen part of the changes. The other new thing I`ve done is add a big collection of classic Christian texts.Check out the Library. Theres been a couple of other minor changes, but I`ll let you discover them yourself !! Hmmmm...... Thursday, April 03, 2003My throat still hurts.... what a bitter irony to get a throat infection just before seeing your girlfriend who you haven`t seen for a month !!! Oh well it was great to see her and we had a good long chat.Atlantis is coming along great... all my flying monkeys are getting into position !! Actually if your remotely interested one of my alles has been attacked by the most experience player in the game. A couple of mages zoomed up with balrogs and dragons in tow and whooped him for the insulting messages he's been posting in the Atlantis Times........ ouch... that'll learn him !!! We have to help him rebuild and continue the long slow build up for war that is inevitably coming.... I think they call this the phony war period. In the meantime I`m expanding quicker than I imagined possible (no... not just my waistline) The voidspace spring clean and facelift has gone well : The rotating ads should now work on *all* pages (now that he correct tags are in place *ahem*) and a few well placed FONT tags should also have neatened things up a bit. The main changes though are that the cybepunk page has a separate index page for William Gibson, the Psychology page has a separate index for Carl Jung and the spiritual page has a new index for a gentleman called Watchman Nee...... (oh and theres a review of William Gibsons Pattern Recognition up there as well......) The URLs as follows........... Gibson Index Jung Index Nee Index Now all I need is to get PHP working properly when INCLUDED in another page and anything will be hunky dory....... Oh and it looks like the DNS issues should be sorted so I shouldn`t get any more *I can`t get to your site* complaints.... I hope so anyway.... Once again thanks to Justin for his advice and help with FTP`ing etc.... Hmmmm..... still feel like I should be working harder though..... at last managed to get hold of the lady who runs the community centre we want to use for one of the groups I`m starting.... Wednesday, April 02, 2003Ha - I`m still ill, but I`d rather be at work than at home......Anyway - voidspace is undergoing phase two of the facelift. Should all be a lot 'nicer'. The psychology page and cyberpunk index pages have been re-organised to be less cramped and I`ve added some genuinely spiritual content to the 'esoteric' section. And on top of all that I got an email from blue-iridium (my web hoster) saying they are sorting my problems out... hunky funky dory.... wow.
