I haven't blogged for a while. I've been working on trying to get the docs finished on my latest project... only pausing to do a small mini project in between. When these are done I'll be ready for full scale voidspace renovations... honest guv....

In the meantime here's a new one - Jesus Army as Art. It's a photo taken from a Nottingham meeting. I don't think we've had a meeting in Nottingham since I've been in the church. That makes the photo at least nine years old.........

On Void-Shockz recently, there has been some discussion on a subject dear to my heart. Not only the now old question is cyberpunk dead, but also touching briefly on the subject of what is the hacker underground ?.

Before I rant, rave, or otherwise exercise my fingers, I'd like to point you at an article that is a must read for anyone interested in this question. Check out http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/hacker-howto.html on how to be a hacker. An excellent exploration by Eric Raymond on what it means to be a real hacker.

Cyberpunk and the underground scene are intertwined in a psycho-sexual relationship. But whilst the latter is thriving, the former would seem to be a little sluggish to say the least. Visiting a lot of the old cyberpunk links shows little new material for quite some time. Project Jericho, the Cyberpunk Project, even dare I say Voidspace have shown not much growth in the last few years - particularly in the cyberpunk department.

At the risk of repeating myself, is this because the issues are no longer relevant or because no-one is doing anything new and innovative with it ? I think the latter.... which throws open a challenge. Who dares write the new cyberpunk manifesto ?
